During your apprenticeship as a sales assistant, you will get to know a wide range of activities that make up everyday life in retail. You will gain an insight into the checkout area, work with different products and ensure that goods are always attractively presented. As an apprentice, you will also get to know the product range in detail and assist with ordering new items and purchasing within the specified processes. As an apprentice, you will work in direct contact with customers, provide sales support, advise customers and learn how to actively sell goods. Another focus is on organizational tasks such as helping with stocktaking.

Requirements and qualification for an apprenticeship as a salesperson (m/f/x)
No special prior knowledge is required for an apprenticeship as a sales assistant. The most important things are your motivation, reliability and enjoyment of working with people. You will learn everything you need for your apprenticeship directly on the job.
You must meet the following requirements:
- Positive compulsory school leaving certificate (high school diploma not required)
- Interest in working in the market
- Friendly demeanor and team spirit
- Willingness to take on responsibility
This will give you the ideal basis for a successful start to your apprenticeship as a salesperson.
Course and duration of the apprenticeship
Apprenticeship training as a sales assistant usually lasts three years. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will alternate between practical work in the store and lessons at vocational school. With each year, you take on more responsibility as an apprentice and deepen your knowledge. This combination ensures that you are optimally prepared for your apprenticeship and your future career in retail. In addition, you will always receive intensive support from your training company.
After successfully completing your apprenticeship, you will receive the official title of retail salesperson.
Salary and earnings during an apprenticeship as a salesperson
During your apprenticeship as a salesperson, you will receive a staggered apprenticeship allowance above the collective agreement, which increases with each year of your apprenticeship.
During your apprenticeship you will receive:
1st year of apprenticeship: from € 1.220,-
2nd year of apprenticeship: from € 1.350,-
3rd year of apprenticeship: from € 1.580,-
