Tasks and topics at BIPA
As part of your apprenticeship, you will gain comprehensive insight into all important aspects of the shop's operations. Your apprenticeship will take place on site and is highly practice-oriented. This will allow you to learn the trade from the ground up.
As an apprentice retail salesperson, you can expect to perform the following tasks and cover the following topics:
- Sales & customer service: You will interact with customers on a daily basis, advise them in a friendly manner and help them select products.
- Product presentation & shelf management: You will stock shelves, present a modern, competitively priced range of products in an appealing way and conscientiously ensure that goods are tidy and available.
- Merchandise management & processes: You will assist with goods receipt, check deliveries and learn how to handle orders and warehousing.
- Assortment & product knowledge: You will build up specialist knowledge of beauty, care and drugstore products, as well as perfumery, and stay informed about current trends.
- Teamwork & responsibility: You will work closely with your shop team and take on a variety of tasks in day-to-day business.
During your apprenticeship, you will be able to discover your strengths and set priorities, and in the long term you can also develop into a shop manager. The apprenticeship as a retail salesperson forms the basis of your training and is continuously supplemented with practical content in everyday work.
Requirements and qualifications for joining BIPA
To do an apprenticeship at BIPA, you need to be motivated, willing to learn and enjoy interacting with people. You must have completed compulsory schooling – it is also important that you are interested in retail and drugstore and beauty products.
What you should bring to your apprenticeship at BIPA:
- Interest in retail and beauty & drugstore products
- A friendly, service-oriented manner
- A reliable and meticulous approach to work
- The ability to work in a team and a sense of responsibility
- German language skills appropriate to the job
- Motivation, a willingness to learn and enjoyment of working with people
- Previous experience in retail is not essential. During your apprenticeship, you will receive comprehensive training and support from experienced colleagues and an apprentice trainer.
Course and duration of the apprenticeship
The apprenticeship usually lasts three years. It combines practical training in the shop with lessons at vocational school. In addition, you have the opportunity to tailor your training to your individual needs, for example as part of an apprenticeship with Matura.
During your training, you will learn about all relevant areas of the shop and receive targeted support.

Salary
As an employer, it is important to us to reward your commitment and performance. That is why your apprentice salary at BIPA is above the collective agreement for the Austrian retail sector and increases with each year of your apprenticeship. You will receive fair, punctual pay, an appreciative working environment and additional benefits.
During your apprenticeship, you will receive:
- 1st year of apprenticeship: € 1,220
- 2nd year of apprenticeship: € 1,350
- 3rd year of apprenticeship: € 1,688
